A new competition is offering Grass Roots readers the chance to own a greyhound and raise funds for a charity of their choice at the same time.

Owlerton Stadium is giving one lucky competition winner a greyhound for a month.

All prize winnings earned by Cotton Girl during March will be donated to a local charity or good cause chosen by the winner.

The Sheffield greyhound will compete at weekly race meetings at Owlerton Stadium and continue to be looked after in kennels by trainer Norman Melbourne.

The winner will also receive their own executive box for the night at Owlerton Stadium which also includes a buffet meal for up to 12 guests.

John Gilburn, managing director, Owlerton Greyhound Stadium, said: “It’s the people who make Owlerton such a special place and generate a unique atmosphere so we wanted to give something back to members of the public.”

“It’s a thank you to the people of Sheffield for helping to make the last 12 months some of our most successful on record. And it will also support a worthy cause .”

Entrants must be 18 or over and send their name, address, phone number and email to marketing@owlertonstadium.co.uk<mailto:marketing@owlertonstadium.co.uk> by Friday 20 February. The winner will be notified by Friday February 27.

* Friday and Saturday Owlerton cards are printed in Grass Roots every Friday.
