ROTHERHAM’S Ben Swift has another chance today to pick up his first Grand Tour stage win in the Vuelta a Espana.
Sprint specialist Swift from Dinnington will end the 164km stage seven from Huesca to Alcañiz at the Motorland Aragón racing circuit.
It’s a finish that the 24-year-old has targeted since being announced as Team Sky’s designated sprinter earlier this month.
Yesterday Swift’s Sky teammate Chris Froome was edged out in the final sprint as Katusha’s Joaquin Rodriguez extended his lead to 10 seconds with victory on stage six.
Froome broke for the line in the final 400 metres of the 175.4km stage from Tarazona to Jaca, but Rodriguez was on his wheel and overtook him on the run-in.
Swift finished in a group nearly 19 minutes behind.
