Garry Monk looks set to become the new manager of Middlesbrough.
Monk left Leeds United at the end of the season, turning down the opportunity of a new contract, and now Boro chairman Steve Gibson is ready to offer a route straight back into Championship management with a job at the Riverside.
Middlesbrough, who were relegated from the Premier League, have been without a permanent boss since Aitor Karanka was sacked in mid-March. Steve Agnew took charge for the final 11 games but was unable to stave off the drop.
Former Boro and Sheffield Wednesday skipper Nigel Pearson had also been linked with the job but it appears as though Monk will take charge as they bid to make a swift return to the top flight.
