KELL Brook has suffered a heartbreaking set-back in his campaign to become IBF welterweight world champion.
American opponent Devon Alexander has pulled out of their February 23 date in Detroit, citing an injured bicep.
It is a massive blow for the Sheffield fighter.
He has been in the second leg of warm weather training in the Canaries and he and his team had planned just about every moment of his preparation up until the planned date.
Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn tweeted: “We received news that Alexander has pulled out of the fight due to a bicep injury. We will have a new date asap.”
The bout was postoponed once before when Brook suffered an ankle injury.
These things happen in boxing and the Grenoside stylist is going to have to regroup and plan another phase of training to replicate the shape he is in now. It means his life will be on hold for a while longer - but he is the type who will want to make Alexander pay for this latest inconvenience.
