Witter wants to shine in Sunrise

Junior Witter says he is thriving on the extra pressure of having to fight for a world title on his American opponent's home soil.

The Sheffield-trained Doncaster-based boxer is preparing for a WBC light-welterweight title showdown with Devon Alexander in Sunrise, Florida on July 11.

"Things are going well," Witter said.

"Travelling is never the best of things, but I travel well. It puts extra pressure on me as I've got to win and win well when I go abroad."

Witter has been let down several times in the past by opponents who have withdrawn from planned bouts.

But he said: "I am relieved this fight is going to happen. I've had a lot of things almost happen and now this one is finally happening, I'm happy."

Witter has not ruled out a contest with Amir Khan - but only if the Bolton man beats Andreas Kotelnik and lands the WBA version on June 27.

"I look at things and say what happens, happens. If he (Khan) wins the world title he comes on my radar.

"Realistically it is a fight that can be made if he wins. I'll be up for it as I'll look to knock him out inside three rounds."
