Sheffield becomes the world focus of more big time boxing when the city’s Commonwealth and European champion Kid Galahad steps back in the ring next month and we have tickets to be won.
Our knockout prize is seats to cheer him on as he defends his Commonwealth super bantamweight title against Canadian Tyson Cave at Ponds Forge Arena on Saturday, September 20.
Popular Sheffield fighters Adam Etches and Scott Jenkins will also be in action along with local fighters Atif Shafiq, Sam O’Maison, Callum Hancock, Bradford’s Golden Boy, Nadeem Siddique and Team Fury fighters Isaac Lowe and Tyson’s cousin Dempsey Fury.
The packed crowd will also see highly regarded featherweight prospect Yusuf Safa from Bexleyheath in action.
Ingle gym fighter Kid Galahad beat Australian champ Fred ‘The General’ Mundraby for the vacant Commonwealth title at Ponds Forge in May.
Cave, aged 32, from Halifax, Nova Scotia, is ranked number six by the WBA and Galahad is expecting an impressive win over the so-called Prince of Hali will propel him towards a shot against world title holder Scott Quigg.
Kid said of Cave: “If I’m honest I haven’t seen much of him but that isn’t a problem as come the 20th September in that ring I will be prepared for anything.”
“I’m looking forward to jumping over Cave in the (WBA) ratings so eventually Quigg will stop running and will be forced to fight me.”
Cave, the NABA super bantamweight champion said “He has never been in the ring with an alien like me. Everything that he’s trying to do, I’ve perfected.
“He (Galahad) should stop trying to be like the prince, there’s only one prince in the game now and that’s the Prince of Hali.”
Galahad’s promoter, Mick Hennessy said “This is a genuine step up in class for Kid, if he wins this fight in style like I believe he can, I will be pushing for a world title fight for him.”
Tickets for the Hennessy Sports promoted event, live on Channel 5 from Ponds Forge, are priced £35 general admission and £100 ringside are available from the box office on 0114 223 3777.
They are also available from.sivtickets.com or in person at the Sheffield City Hall, Crucible Theatre and Sheffield Motorpoint Arena.
