Sheffield boxing champ Kell Brook met fans and toured the facilities when he opened a new gym in the city centre.
The new Anytime Fitness club, the 58th branch in the UK, is situated on Tenter Street.
It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Serial Sheffield entrepreneur and fitness fan, Owen Hao, invested £400,000 in the city’s new Anytime Fitness gym.
The 25-year-old entrepreneur said: “I’ve followed how well the business model had worked across the globe for some time and it’s easy to see why its been a success with gym goers. The Anytime Fitness motto is ‘just right’ and that’s exactly what it is. It has its own identity, its own brand, look and feel. It doesn’t try and pretend to be snobby but it’s not an old school gym either, it also isn’t your budget gym where you are all crammed on the treadmills.
“We are already up to 300 members and can go up to a capacity of 2000 but we have only been open a few weeks. One of the biggest benefits for the Sheffield public to take out a membership, apart from it’s obvious 24/7 access, is that you can have access to any of the Anytime Fitness Club across the world, that’s over 2,800 clubs worldwide.”
Since opening, the gym has provided jobs to six people in Sheffield, including club manager Claire Burrows.
IBF welterweight champ Kell cut the ribbon before meeting fans who enjoyed champagne and sushi.
