Gavin McDonnell will defend his British super bantamweight title against Josh Wale in Leeds it has been confirmed.
The Dunscroft fighter will meet his Barnsley foe at the new First Direct Arena in the city on Wednesday May 21.
The bout is a rematch of an enthralling contest between the two from September last year, that time being a British title eliminator.
Topping the bill will be Leeds fighter Josh Warrington who will defend his Commonwealth featherweight title in his home town for the first time.
Hull hero Tommy Coyle is also set to be on the bill along with Liverpool’s Stephen Smith who is set for face Argentinian Fernando David Saucedo for the WBC International Silver featherweight title, a bout which will double as a world title eliminator.

“I’ve been looking at bringing boxing to Leeds since the Arena opened and now with Josh Warrington on the title scene, it’s perfect timing.
“Josh can be a major flag bearer for boxing in Leeds and fans can expect a first class night of action.
“Stephen Smith is presented with a huge opportunity taking WBC Silver champion Fernando David Saucedo in a World title eliminator and Gavin McDonnell takes on Josh Wale in a lively Yorkshire derby.
“Fresh from his Fight of the Year contender, Tommy Coyle also returns to action chasing a World title shot – we are looking forward to a new era in Leeds.”
