TV ring champ back behind till

SHEFFIELD’S new boxing hero was back down to earth yesterday.

Two days after winning the WBC international superbantamweight title in a show watched by two million TV viewers, Kid Galahad, aged 21, was back working behind the till of the family newsagents in Worrall.

“I am happy to help out,” beamed the boxer, whose real name is Abdul Barry Awad.

“I am so happy after the win (against Nottingham’s Jason Booth at the Magna Centre, Rotherham). Booth was quite dirty, he tried to hold on to me trip me up and headbutt me several times. I’d never been up against that sort of thing before. But I’d been warned and avoided him. The 12 rounds were a very good learning experience for me.”
