He may have been born in Turkey, but Ahmet Patterson is a legitimate English welterweight title contender - and a clear threat to Chad Gaynor’s ambitions to land championship belts.
Gaynor, 23, from Rotherham, takes on Patterson for the English crown at iceSheffield on September 12.
Gaynor has lost only once in his 16 fight career, and that was a Prizefighter three-rounder. However London-based Patterson is undefeated after 12 fights and has won British and International Masters titles over 10 rounds.
The South Yorkshireman caught the eye in his last outing: a second round KO of Adil Anwar, at iceSheffield but he knows Patterson represents his biggest challenge so far. The rewards are likely to be a shot at the British title.
Gaynor has been tuning up in Los Angeles, training at the world famous Wildcard gym in preparation.
