Kell Brook is consoling himself during his enforced absence from the gym with thoughts of spectacular showdowns in 2015 against Amir Khan and Floyd Mayweather.

But there are others targeting the Sheffielder, now he has the IBF world championship belt. Not least of all Juan Manuel Marquez, the Mexican veteran who KO’d Manny Pacquiao in 2012 and went 12 ultimately unsuccessful rounds with Timothy Bradley.

His promoter Fernando Beltran said: “There are a lot of fighters out there but he would like to fight the IBF champion, Kell Brook.

“Or another good fight for him would be the rematch with Bradley.” Brook is recovering from a machete attack in Tenerife, whilst on holiday.
