SHEFFIELDER Kell Brook’s IBF welterweight title fight with American champion Devon Alexander may be in doubt for a third time after promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed Brook is receiving treatment for a foot injury.
Hearn confirmed on Twitter yesterday that the unbeaten 26-year-old welterweight had injured his foot in training ahead of the May 18 bout with Alexander at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, prompting fears the fight could be put back once more.
Both fighters have been forced to pull out of previously planned IBF welterweight contests.
“Regarding Kell Brook - he has been receiving some treatment for a foot injury. Will update if any further news,” Hearn posted.
Later he added: “Kell will see a specialist about the injury on Monday, when we will look to make an announcement.”
“He has had MRI and CT scans, but we will not know more until we have spoken to the specialist.”
