Hassan Ahmed, 21,is attracting quite a fan club.
Not only does promoter Dennis Hobson believe he has championship potential, the Yemeni born Sheffielder has caught the eye of Glenn McCrory, the former world champ and boxing pundit. Ahmed, who seeks his sixth straight win, at the Octagon Centre on Saturday, aims to move down from super bantam to flyweight and wants to box the likes of Haroon Khan and Louis Norman.
Trainer Chris Smedley says: “We are having to hold him back as he’s only just 21, didn’t have that many amateur fights although he got to a novice national final.
“Dennis believes in Hassan as he as loads of natural ability and a few wins will put him in the mix at flyweight as there are not a lot in Britain.”
Smedley added: “He is married and just had a baby son so we know he’s stable and happy out of the gym.
“He as a great set of fans who always make themselves heard and always puts on a show.”
