The middleweight outpointed Steve Spence at Doncaster Dome.
Mexborough fighter Brookes sustained a cut on the scalp from a third round head clash.
But he won every round to declare he was well and truly back in the sport.
Brookes had stopped boxing after the death of his brother Scott.
But now he wants to win a domestic title in Scott’s honour.
