JAMIE HUGHES has signed with Rotherham-based promoter Dave Coldwell and will make his debut in September.
Bentley’s Hughes, 28, says the time was right to switch to the professional ranks and will compete at light-heavyweight.
The southpaw has chosen to sign with Coldwell so that he can build a local fanbase.
“I had been in talks with a promoter in Manchester but it made more sense to sign with somebody who put on local shows and Dave made me a great offer,” said Hughes, a former ABA finalist. “I’ll be able to sell more tickets locally and everything will be geared up towards my debut now.”
“Jamie is a quality boxer and we’ve got some really big ideas for what we want to do with him,” added Coldwell.
