Ross ready to put on a show for cameras

ROSS Burkinshaw expects to show off some style, panache - and a British title belt - during a Sky televised show next month.

The Sheffield-based super-flyweight gets the chance to win a Lonsdale belt when he boxes Bristol's Lee Haskins at the Seaburn Centre, Sunderland on July 10.

With fewer boxing matches being screened by finance-hit broadcasters, Burkinshaw, aged 22, intends to put on a feast of entertainment.

A serving member of The Rifles Regiment, he said: "I will have four buglers escorting me into the ring, then it will be me against Haskins, and I know I can win. This will be the biggest fight of my career,. Even American boxers are jealous about the Lonsdale belt because of all the history that goes with it.

"Haskins fights with his hands down as if he is a new Naz, but he is no Naseem Hamed. He has never fought anybody with the stamina and physical and mental strength that I possess."

Burkinshaw said his training was going well and he would have no problem getting down to 8st 3lbs.
