Shawn Porter claims he is ready to dismantle the power and speed of Sheffield’s Kell Brook.
The American BF welterweight champion takes on 28-year-old Brook at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on August 9.
“It’s going to be exciting. I’m going to be prepared for everything that he’s got” said Porter, who knocked out former two division champion Paulie Malignaggi in April 19.
“I see a little bit of speed, a little bit of quickness, a little but of power. And I’ll be ready for all of that,” Porter told BoxingScene.com.
“Its very exciting to headline a card in Brooklyn. And some of the names being thrown at me to be on the undercard, its going to be a tremendous card. I saw Zab Judah earlier this week in the gym and he said he might be on there. I’m told Danny Jacobs will be on there. I’m just excited just to headline it and be the main event.”
Brook will be regarded as the underdog in America.
But the Guardian recently described Porter, 26, this way: “He somehow packs a middleweight’s strength into a welterweight body, and moves like a small Mike Tyson – but he is far from unbeatable.”
The dream for the Sheffielder is simple: beat Porter and try and get in the ring with the likes of Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao.
