THE trainer of Kell Brook has accused Carson Jones of being a “dirty” fighter and expects the American to use every trick in the book in an attempt to cause an upset tonight.
Dominic Ingle is confident undefeated welterweight Brook will handle everything loud-mouthed Jones has to throw at him at Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena.
Verbals have been exchanged and Jones tried to get under Brook’s skin further at yesterday’s official weigh in the Winter Garden. Watched by a crowd of 200, the duo went nose to nose in another heated confrontation.
Jones was booed as he walked on to the platform before shouting: “We are all Blades aren’t we?” A slimmed down Jones weighed in at 10 stone and six pounds.
By contrast, he fans gave Brook a big reception and he also comfortably made the required weight.
The pressure is on world title-chasing Brook to stretch his unbeaten streak to 28 outings and Ingle is adamant he will prevail in the ring despite Jones’s taunts.
Ingle told The Star: “Carson was all smiles a few days ago but reality is setting in now. He has tried to rile Kell and his plan is to drag him into a fight.
“Carson is going to be as dirty as possible and try to wind Kell up. He will use everything from his head to his elbows to see how Kell reacts to try and get the job done.
“Kell’s game plan is to stick to the boxing, wait for the opportunities to come and then hit him with the bombs.
“Carson is a good puncher but he’s not got a fantastic jab. He is quite heavy handed. We are not taking him lightly though because Carson is crafty and he is on a good winning streak.”
