FORMER light welterweight world champion Ricky Hatton says he is delighted to be promoting a night of boxing in Sheffield next year.

His company, Hatton Promotions, are returning to Ponds Forge on Saturday March 24 with super-featherweight Gary Buckland defending his British title as the headline bout.

The fights will be televised by Sky Sports.

Hatton said: “Sheffield is becoming a regular city for us to visit, and we’re delighted to be returning to Ponds Forge.

“Sheffield seems to be producing lots of top young kids right now like Adam Etches and Scott Jenkins.

“Next year will also be a big one for heavyweight Richard Towers who will eventually will be heading a big card at Ponds Forge. Gary Buckland tops this card and if his first defence has half the excitement of the Sykes fight, fans will be happy.”
