SHEFFIELD world title hunter Kell Brook has admitted he was “devastated” when injured American Devon Alexander pulled out of their planned February 23 show.
And that feeling was worsened by rumours that Alexander may fight Floyd Mayweather in May.
“I’m still in limbo” Brook told Sky Sports. “I’m absolutely gutted. I’d been training for 13 weeks, then I heard from my family. Finding out the news, I can’t put into words how devastated I am.
“But I’ve got to be professional. I’ve got to keep ticking over, keep my mind on it and wait.
“This kind of thing has happened to me before on a smaller scale. It is hard to deal with, but I’ve just got to be ready for what comes next.”
Brook is desperate to take the US by storm. “People haven’t heard of me in America - I want to get in there and rip that title off of Alexander and explode onto the world scene.”
