Dalton Smith claimed another national title with a win at the England Boxing Youth Championships in Worsley.

Smith put opponent Isaac Draper from Stevenage down on the way to a unanimous verdict in the 60kg final.

At 52kg Nohmaan Hussain of Sheffield City was denied a second national title as he lost the final to Hoddesdon’s Joe Saul Bayliss. Sheffield City had a busy week all round with them hosting their own show at Smithywood WMC.

Brendan Warburton’s lads recorded eight wins from nine bouts. Josh Sharp got the better of Brodsworth’s Sean Stevenson and in another affair against Brodsworth, Ahmed Camran beat Owen Edwards. Alex Kayani made it three wins for Sheffield City.

Ryszard Lewicki and Joe Moylan beat Barnsley fighters Callum Simpson (Barnsley Star) and Hard and Fast’s Nathan Smith. Joe Straw, James Linley and Muma Mweemba rounded off a fine evening with wins against Ryan O’Donnell, Roman Moore of Brodsworth and Jimmy First of Halifax.

Nial Sharp of Sheffield City was beaten by Muhammad Akbar from Round One.

Micky’s Athletic of Wath had success on the road with their representatives Brad Botham and Dempsey Wale winning on the south coast.

The club has a strong association with the Golden Ring ABC and the duo boxed in the home corner to verdict wins.

Parson Cross boxer Kieran Williams made it five straight wins when beatingCasey Jones of Wigan ABC at the DW Stadium. Williams had Jones in bother throughout and gave him two standing eight counts before earning a TKO verdict in the third round.

St Vincents had little joy in the finals of the Gatorade BUCS Boxing Championships at Ponds Forge. Graham Neill of the University of Sheffield was beaten unanimously in the 63.5kg category by Daniel Alsop from Cardiff Metropolitan.

Ruben Alves, representing Derby Uni, but a Sheffield lad, went down to a split decision loss to Richie Goulding of Exeter in the 81kg finale. St Vincent’s George Parkin lost on his debut in Dewsbury.
