Don’t quit boxing, Curtis!

CURTIS WOODHOUSE has been supported by boxing buddies in his claim he was wrongly stripped of his English light welterweight belt.

Woodhouse was outpointed by Shane Singleton in controversial circumstances in Manchester on Friday and later said he was “gutted” and considering hanging the gloves up. But promoter Dave Coldwell will be seeking a re-match.

Several people in the boxing community have urged Woodhouse to continue.

Sheffield area middleweight champion Jez Wilson tweeted: “He was robbed worst decision I’ve ever witnessed.”

Promoter Eddie Hearn added: “Heard you had a rough decision last night mate..don’t give up. Set-backs only pave the way for come backs.”

And Sheffield’s Kell Brook added: hold your head high pal that was your fight, easy!”

n Meanwhile, check out thestar.co.uk/boxing for a video from Glyn Rhodes’ glittering MBE night at Cutlers Hall, Sheffield.
