David Allen insists he is simply ‘too hard’ for Lenroy Thomas to stand in the way of him winning the Commonwealth heavyweight title tonight.

Conisbrough fighter Allen will meet Jamaican Thomas for the vacant strap under the stars at Bramall Lane, on the undercard of Kell Brook’s blockbuster world title defence against Errol Spence Jr.

While determined to prove he is serious about winning British and European titles in the future, Allen could not resist bringing out the more playful side of his personality.

And he taunted Thomas, predicting a brutal night for the Florida-based fighter.

“This sounds really childish but I’m way too hard for you,” Allen said. “And I’m going to bash you up, beat you up and then you’re going to quit .

“It is a 12 round fight and Lenroy Thomas is not hard enough to keep me off him for 12 round.

“I’m going to be on him all night, all 12 rounds.”

Allen lasted seven rounds with top Cuban Luis Ortiz last year in a remarkable show of resilience. And he believes Thomas should be in fear with that performance in mind.

“I boxed your mate Luis Ortiz and fought for seven rounds,” he said. “I didn’t train for that fight but I’ve trained for this one.

“I feel sorry for you because you’re going to get beat up on Saturday night.

“It’s nothing personal but I’m going to bash you up.

“People say you need to show your boxing ability. There’s going to be no boxing ability on show on Saturday.

“From round one I’m going to be head down and swinging.

“The plan is you’re going to break your hands on my face and I’m going to break your jaw.”

Allen weighed in at 17st 12lbs for the fight – 18lbs more than Thomas.
