His name doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue.
But Christian Donfack Adjoufack might have plenty to say in Sheffield’s boxing scene over the next few months.
Adjoufack was one of seven Cameroonian athletes who disappeared from London’s Olympic Village (2012) and gained asylum here. He has now his countryman, Serge Ambomo, to Sheffield Boxing Centre.
Trainer Glyn Rhodes said of the 30-year-old light heavyweight: “You don’t get picked to box for the Olympics unless you are decent. He has seen how well Serge has done since he has moved here.”
Rhodes added: “Christian is very technical a big guy and I’m looking forward to having some fun with him this season.
“He’s a boxer while Serge is a fighter. Serge comes for a fight and is very tough. Christian stands up uses his jab, moves around a little bit more. They are very contrasting styles. “While they fight differently, the pair have one thing in common.
“They have got that one thing which I wish more fighters have got, hunger. They want to fight, they have got nothing so they really want to fight.”
