NEW Prizefighter champion Yassine El Maachi has compounded Junior Witter’s misery by suggesting he hangs up his gloves.

Welterweight El Maachi beat former WBC world champion Witter on points at York Hall on Tuesday to claim the TV tournament trophy and a £32,000 winner’s cheque. To make things worse, the 37-year-old Sheffielder had embarrassingly tumbled out of the ring in the third round of the final and landed on top of a startled camerman.

Moroccan-born fighter El Maachi said: “Junior used to be the best in the world, but his time has finished. He has to say goodbye to boxing.

“I knew I would win the tournament because nobody there had the speed or reflexes that I have.”
