SHEFFIELD’S unbeaten welterweight Kell Brook has signed a promotional deal with Matchroom Sport.
The British and WBO Inter-continental champ hopes the move will lead him to an attempt at a world title. It follows a meeting with Matchroom managing director Eddie Hearn at Prizefighter Super-middleweights in Liverpool in March.
Brook said: “I met Eddie and we got on like a house on fire. His thoughts and plans on my future were exactly what I wanted to hear.”
The boxer’s first fight with his new promoters is likely to be in Sheffield in June. “It will be great to have a fight line -up and be topping bills live on Sky Sports in front on my home fans,” he said. “I’m a couple of fights from a world title. I’m 25 at the start of May and mentally and physically I’m ready for it.”
