THE guessing game of who will step in the ring with Kell Brook in his second Sheffield Arena show has already started.
One outstanding candidate for the July 7 date is Slovenian Jan Zaveck, who last Saturday scooped the WBO Inter-Continental welterweight title.
Zaveck has a won 32 (KOs 18) lost two record and, at 36, will view any contest with Brook as his last chance to make it to the top. Last September he lost an IBF title shot against American Andre Berto over 12 rounds.
In 2010, he beat Rafal Jackiewicz - who Brook himself stopped at Ponds Forge last October.
Another possibility would be Argentinian Marcos Maidana, who won the WBA World light-welter crown last year.
Brook is making headlines where it counts most, in America. A Boston newspaper has published his assertion that he could beat Manny Pacquiao. But the Examiner predicts: “Sadly for Brook, the “Kid” will never even be given an opportunity to clash with the iconic Pacquiao.”
