Kell Brook looks in great shape in his world title challenge year.
He appeared trim at a press conference in Liverpool, yesterday, ahead of an Eddie Hearn show there on March 15. Brook’s opponent has not been named yet, which made questions less relevant than usual at the media event. It will be a “tune-up” fight before his attempt to take the IBF welterweight title in the Summer.
Brook said that Shawn Porter, the current IBF king, was a game opponent but his mind was on the warm-up - which Porter was replicating with his own preparation in America.
The Sheffielder has returned from a warm-weather camp in Gran Canaria and will train for March 15 and then carry on until his Porter date, sometime before the end of June.
Meanwhile former world champion Paulie Malignaggi has praised Brook. “I think he is the goods” he told thaboxingvoice.com “It’s about time he gets the opportunity; he’s world class. Fans are missing out not being able to see him against other world class welterweights on the American stage. If Brook could get on the American stage, the fans win.”
