CURTIS WOODHOUSE is England’s new light welterweight champion this morning.
He outpointed Derby’s Dave Ryan in a 10 round war at Magna last night.
The former Sheffield United footballer had Ryan on the canvas in round three.
But Ryan came back strongly and had Woodhouse hanging on at the end.
Woodhouse shaded it with the judges, despite a cut over his left eye and a bad hand injury.
Today, he was back at his day job - managing Sheffield FC.
“It was a fantastic night, but you can get drunk on your own success and the football will take my mind off it” he said.
Woodhouse now wants a crack at the Brtish title, afte his 17th win in a 21-fight career.
