SHEFFIELD Boxing Centre boss Glyn Rhodes has unleashed a Facebook rant on his “selfish, self-important” gym members.
Rhodes lost his rag when some of his professional fighters left young kids waiting for their allocated time in rings at his Hillsborough centre. It also enraged him that boxers he’d asked to attend a public relations event at iceSheffield - venue for six future shows - either failed to show up or did so grudgingly.
Rhodes said on Facebook: “I was disappointed with a few people who train with us. Some people think they are bigger than the gym. Superstars? Special people? I don’t think so.
“We have been doing it this way since 1994 so if you don’t like it don’t come. I once told one of the biggest names in boxing to **** off from the gym because he thought he was better than others so don’t worry, I won’t miss you.”
Former WBO super bantamweight title contender Richie Wenton agreed with the sentiment, posting: “Remember the saying: ‘Boxing is a gentleman’s sport’. Not (for) arrogant big heads.”
