KELL Brook is nursing a badly damaged left hand as well as a broken nose and damaged pride following his win over American Carson Jones.
Sheffield’s world-title prospect has accepted he needs more nutritional and sports-science assistance after fading badly in last Saturday’s points win at the Arena.
Brook was in obvious discomfort from his bloodied nose, and trainer Dominic Ingle revealed a hand injury too.
“Usually it’s Kell’s right hand that gets injured but its his left that is badly damaged this time,” said Ingle.
“He also has some lumps on the back of his head and had swallowed a lot of blood so it was sensible that he went to hospital for a check.”
Brook’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has criticised Brook’s weight regime, saying his efforts to diet to make the 147lbs welterweight level had weakened him.
Ingle says he has been aware of these problems - but maintains the boxer himself, had wanted to manage his own nutrition.
“If Kell wants to get to the next level then there cannot be any further discrepancies” warned the trainer.
