TO say he took the fight at short-notice, Carl Wild didn’t do bad, according to trainer Glyn Rhodes.
The light-heavyweight, aged 26, took on former British and Commonwealth title challenger Courtney Fry at Liverpool’s Olympia on Saturday night but was on the end of a 60-53 defeat.
It’s a seventeeth career loss for Wild but his first for 11 months and he’s also captured the Central Area title in that period.
“We took it earlier on in the week,” said Rhodes.
“Carl was 13 stone plus but he did okay to say it was a last minute job.”
Fellow Sheffield fighter Sam ‘The Sensation’ O’Maison will be the only city representative on Kell Brook’s undercard next Saturday. The lightweight’s opponent is yet to be announced.
