Jamie McDonnell should find out next week who he will make the first defence of his IBF world title against.
McDonnell’s manager Dennis Hobson has signed an agreement with Queensberry Promotions which will see McDonnell defend his title on the BoxNation channel.
And an announcement is likely to come next week a press conference in London with details of the date and venue of McDonnell’s next bout.
McDonnell is due to make a mandatory defence of his IBF bantamweight title by November 11.
South African Vusi Malinga – who McDonnell was due to face in a title eliminator a year ago – is currently the top placed fighter in the IBF’s rankings.
Queensberry Promotions is run by the sons of top promoter Frank Warren.
The organisation will work with Hobson on cards which will feature Queensberry’s roster of fighters plus the Sheffield promote’s own crop of talent, with McDonnell at the top of the bill.
Hobson said: “We’re absolutely delighted to link up with Queensberry Promotions and BoxNation.
“This deal has been in the pipeline for quite some time following conversations between myself and George Warren.
“We’re hugely looking forward to Jamie defending his world championship on the channel and developing him into one of the biggest names in boxing.”
