Sheffield’s Nadeem Siddique shrugged off five years of ring rust to KO an opponent in just 138 seconds.
The Ingle boxer, who hadn’t fought since June 2009, and had suffered back injuries and car crash wounds in that time, beat Alexander Farkas, a Hungarian, on a Dave Coldwell bill in Manchester’s Bowlers Exhibition Centre.
‘Sid,’ aged 36 took his record to won 23 lost 2.
The Wincobank resident was streets ahead of an opponent 15 years younger than him, from the off.
Farkas, who had won two of his previous seven, was on the canvas twice from body shots, before referee Steve Gray halted proceedings at 2:18.
Siddique, who claims he has more snap in his punches than when he was younger, now has two more fights in quick succession, one of the undercard of the Chisora v Fury bill.
The Bradford-born Sheffielder wants to capture a domestic title.
Meanwhile, the father of Shawn Porter - the man who stands in the way of Kell Brook’s world title bid - says he has no fears about the Sheffield man’s power.
Recently, Brook’s trainer Dominic Ingle suggested the American hadn’t faced anyone with his fighter’s sheer strength.
But to Ken Porter, who is also Shawn’s trainer, cited a list of fighters with power that his son had overcome in both amateur and professional combat.
“None of them have done any damage to us along the way and we feel that whatever this guy has we will be stronger and just as fast or faster.
“That has never been a problem for us at all,” he told BoxingScene.com
“Expect him (Brook) to look great and Shawn to look spectacular.
“I’m going to continue to train Shawn to build on our last fight and last camp, our fight and camp before that.
“I will continue to build on what he has been doing the last two years which led to becoming the IBF welterweight world champion.
“Now that he has become that champion we are going to continue to work hard. We look forward to that big fight with Kell and bigger things after that,” Porter told added.
The pair go head-to-head on August 9 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
