The adverse weather conditions did not deter 26 players turning out for the 16th successive week of play at Hollinsend Park Bowling Club where efficient natural drainage on both greens means play is rarely in doubt.

Three players tied for top spot, a first, and all new names on the roll of honour: John Holmes of Coal Aston Bowling Club, Mick Collins of Richmond Park, and that long standing member at Hollinsend, Eddie Jackson.

Mick’s success highlights the recuperative effect of playing crown green bowls, as he suffered a heart attack in the middle of last summer.
