Bookmakers bet against the Blades
Struggling Sheffield United have lost four of their last five, including last week's 3-1 FA Cup reverse against Aston Villa and they aren't expected to snap their winless sequence at the Ricoh Arena, where hosts Coventry are Victor Chandler's 13/10 favourites and a much-needed Blades triumph is chalked up by Ladbrokes at 12/5.
Also at 12/5, this time with Totesport, is a draw and, in a potentially high-scoring contest, William Hill offer 16/1 for an exciting 2-2 stalemate. However, despite having not secured a maximum haul since the victory over Swansea in mid-December, United will take heart from the fact Coventry's own poor form, the Sky Blues' cup success against Crystal Palace last Saturday having ended a run of six games without a victory.
There are reasons for optimism then and Micky Adams' men are 4/1 with Paddy Power to see off the Blades boss's former club by a one-goal margin while a 2-1 United triumph is chalked up by Betfred at odds of 11/1.
In what looks set to be a tight affair, Stan James mark 13/2 against an away win following on from a drawn first period but for the understandably guarded fans, preferable bets include Coral's 8/13 for the Blades to avoid defeat or a triumph for Adams' charges at 6/4 in 888Sport's 'Draw no Bet' market.
Buoyed by their comfortable cup success against Championship opposition last Saturday, Sheffield Wednesday are decent value at 2.0 (evens) with Betdaq as they entertain Charlton.
The Addicks haven't won in five in League One but because three of those games have finished all square, perhaps a narrow victory for the Owls looks likely.
Punters might therefore fancy bet365's 15/2 for Wednesday to shade it 2-1 or bet365's 11/4 for a home win by a solitary goal while William Hill offer odds of 11/5 for Alan Irvine's side to be in possession of a lead at both the interval and the full-time whistle.
Back in the Championship, Barnsley are Victor Chandler's 7/2 outsiders as they head to Hull's KC Stadium, where Partybets post a tempting 5/2 against a stalemate and at the Keepmoat Stadium, considering their strong home record, Doncaster look somewhat overpriced at 8/5 with Betfred as they entertain Reading.
League Two leaders Chesterfield have won nine of their twelve home games and they're even money with bet365 to make it ten from 13 as they welcome giant-killing Stevenage to the b2net Stadium. Finally, at the Don Valley Stadium, second-placed Rotherham are quoted at 17/20 by Victor Chandler to get the better of Southend.
