SHEFFIELD’S Adam Blythe narrowly missed out on his first major victory of the season as he finished third in the Handzame Classic.
The one day race in Flanders region of Belgium was targeted by 22-year-old Blythe and his BMC Racing team as an event that he could win.
But for the second time in three days over the roads of Belgium it was Italian Francesco Chicchi who came out on top.
However, Blythe performed well and is sure to have impressed his new bosses after moving to BMC, the team of Tour de France winner Cadel Evans, last autumn.
Germany’s Marcel Kittel finished second, just ahead of Blythe.
