DONCASTER Lawn Tennis Club are hosting the last of their four Summer Camps at their Saxton Avenue base this week.
The sessions, held between 10am-11am every day, are aimed at the 4 to 7 year-old age group.
“The sessions this week, which cost £5 per day with discounts for members, have been well attended,” said coach Liz Beaton.
She added: “We have run three weekly courses prior to this one.
“The first one was a five-hour a day camp and we’ve also run shorter daily sessions for the younger age groups.
“Some of the the children we’ve had on the various courses are already keen junior squad members, whilst others have been trying out tennis for the first time.
“What has been particularly pleasing is that several of the children who have attended camps this summer, have now joined the club and enrolled in the junior coaching programme as a result of the progress they have made on the course.”
Beaton, who has organised and coached the various camps, added: “Our Friday night Junior sessions have also run through the summer holidays and continue to be incredibly popular. We start with the sessions for the 4-7 year-olds between 4.40-5.30pm, followed by the 8-11 year-olds between 5.30-6.30pm. The 11 year and over session runs between 6.30-7.30pm.
“It’s the best day for any interested youngsters to come down and meet the coaches and see what is available.”
“Alternatively, any parent whose children are showing an interest in the sport, can give me a call on 078164 14804 or pop down in person and speak to me.”
