Becky decides she's an outdoor kind of girl
Two big events in the athletics calendar are about to descend upon Sheffield's English Institute of Sport in the coming months but one home favourite who will be missing both is middle distance star Becky Lyne.
The European bronze medallist is ineligible to compete at the British University Championships, March 13-16, given that she graduated from Loughborough University in 2005, but she will also miss the Norwich Union World Trials and UK Championships on February 9 and 10 as she has chosen not to race in the indoor season.
"I will hopefully be going to do some warm weather training in Australia in February, so will not compete indoors," said the 25-year-old.
"But it is great that Sheffield will be hosting two massive athletics events and I am confident plenty of people will turn out to support them."
Lyne may not be competing at the Trials but Jemma Simpson, Lisa Dobriskey, Katrina Wootton and Marilyn Okoro will be.
"I raced against those girls at university which meant that we always had good depth in a strong field.

"Especially in the middle distances we seem to have a lot of competition now, which I'm not really surprised about given Dame Kelly Holmes's achievements at the last Olympics, but growing up alongside people like that makes you want it even more."
Loughborough has a history of producing world-class athletes, in the shape of Paula Radcliffe and Lord Coe, meaning Lyne has possibly always been destined to follow in the footsteps of greatness.
"It was nice being able to race for Loughborough and I was particularly proud because I was aware of the pedigree of athletes who had done so before me.
"Being at uni was a bit like being on a school trip all the time and in fact it has helped me with my career now because it encouraged me to be outgoing and more confident.
"I often have to travel to races on my own and so it's helped me to be brave and introduce myself."
