DBL Sharks Sheffield captain Mike Tuck is confident his side can win more silverware this season following success in 2015-16.
Sharks beat Leicester Riders to win the Molten BBL Play-Off final in May, the side’s first play-off win since 2003-04 – something which, along with the signing of several new players, has put Tuck in confident mood ahead of the new season.
“I think we’re going to be a very competitive side this season, I’m very excited about how the team’s coming together” said Tuck.
“The guys that coach Atiba Lyons has brought in have been very competitive in practice.
“This is probably one of the better teams we’ve had going into the new league season, so I’m very excited about moving forward with this team.”
Sharks get their 2016/17 British Basketball League season underway on Friday night at the EIS against Leicester.
And Tuck, who is now into his eighth season with Sharks, feels the club can carry forward momentum from last season’s success.
“The success of last season puts added pressure on to us.
“But the side that we have right now is looking like a silverware team.”
The skipper added: “It’s probably the tallest team I’ve played in since I’ve been here, we’ve got 6’10, 6’9, 6’8, 6’7, 6’7, 6’5, the list goes on.
“We’ve got a tall, physical team and I can’t wait for the first game.”
