Sheffield Sharks delight as TJ Robinson re-signs

The DBL Sheffield Sharks have announceed the re-signing of fan favourite and chief of the back boards Antone Robinson for the 2016/17 season.

Affecionately known as TJ, Robinson’s second season with Sharks followed an exceptional year where he became the “double double” man of the team averaging a reliable 17points and 11 rebounds per game.

The Sharks’ season experienced many twists and turns before ending on a high by securing the BBL Playoff championships over league winners the Leicester Riders, in front of 14,000 people at the O2 in London.

Robinson arrived after the season began in late September,but his sheer athleticism proved to be a major asset when competing for honours and his return is a testimony to his commitment to the club.

“I am thrilled to have TJ back in the fold for another season,” said Sharks GM Sarah Backovic.

“Aside from his obvious athletic skills he is a really good person who works hard every day to bring his best. He demonstrated this attitude from the start and being able to depend on his diligent approach to winning made him so valuable to the team”.

Robinson’s season led to great demand for his services, however the 6ft 7 forward’s decision to return to the Sharks was typically straightforward.

“I just love the organisation, from when I arrived I was made to feel welcome and I enjoyed all aspects of the club.

“Basketball was great and I enjoyed working with my team mates.It was a real family atmosphere and in the end we showed that we were a top team!” said Robinson.

“I am looking forward to getting back to Sheffield and meeting up with the team and focussing on improving where we can on last season”.

Backovic was pleased with Sharks’ preparaions aid said: “We are working steadily on the new season and so far we are very happy with how it looks, but we won’t be making rash decisions we just want to make the right ones.”
