SHEFFIELD Sharks head coach Atiba Lyons is confident new signing Gage Daye will flourish in England.
Sharks have confirmed the signing of American point guard Daye, who attended Bloomfield College and became their all-time leading points scorer in his senior year, and Lyons expects big things from the 23-year-old.
“Gage is someone I have had my eye on all summer,” said Lyons. “Every coach I spoke to sings his praise.
“He is a tough kid that works hard to get better every day. He plays both guard positions extremely well and has a high baskeball IQ.”
Standing at 6ft 3ins, New Jersey native Daye played last season for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the NBA Development League.
“I am excited and I want to contribute to the team,” he said. “I feel I can fill the role the coach needs me to do and have a successful season.”
The Sharks take on East London Royals at the EIS on Friday, September 21 in their first match of the season.
