SHEFFIELD Sharks have swooped to sign Micah Williams and head coach Atiba Lyons hopes the guard will play an instrumental role in tightening up their defence.

Williams, who graduated from East Tennessee State University averaging 14 points and four rebounds per game, becomes the Sharks final import signing.

Of Williams arrival, Lyons commented: “I wanted to make sure I had a leader that could provide consistent shooting be athletic and most importantly can defend four positions. This season should be much more what the Sharks are used to being, with a strong focus on defense.”

Williams, a resident of Memphis Tennessee, spent his first professional season in Japan.

Williams said: “I am looking forward to getting in the gym and getting to work. I understand the club is used to success and we will be looking to put some silverware into the cabinet.”

Sharks are set to take part in a pre-season tournament in Newcastle.
