SHEFFIELD Sharks are hopeful that point-guard BJ Holmes will be fit for Friday night’s BBL Trophy quarter-final with Glasgow Rocks at the EIS.
Holmes injured his shin on Sunday in the Championship defeat at the Rocks but posted on Twitter that he was already on the mend. “Leg looks and feels a lot better today!” he wrote.
It’s important for the Sharks that Holmes is fit as the Trophy represents one of their last chances of winning a competition this season.
A recent good run of form came to a shuddering halt at the weekend with heavy losses at Newcastle on Friday then again on Sunday north of the border.
However, Sheffield coach Atiba Lyons believes it may give his players a dose of reality: “Hopefully we play a lot better at home shoot ball better.
“These two losses will wake us up. We were starting to stick chest out a bit.”
Sharks are offering tickets for £5 for the match against Glasgow on Friday.
