SHARKS coach Atiba Lyons says new point guard BJ Holmes can become even better despite the American’s excellent start to life in the BBL.
Holmes only arrived in the country 24 hours before last Friday’s cup semi-final defeat against Leicester Riders, but after an impressive debut he starred again on Sunday in a victory at Durham Wildcats.
Lyons said Holmes brings a new element to the Sharks: “BJ is a very smart player. He’s a guy that likes to get everyone involved but can also shoot it when he needs to. The one thing that he brings to us is maturity. We have a lot of young guys on our team this year and he has that maturity out on the floor that we’ve not had so far this season.
“As he gets to play more games he’ll get more used to our system and how we play and I think he’ll be even better.”
The Sharks will welcome back forward Demetrius Jemison for Friday’s league match against Mersey Tigers after a one-game ban.
