SHEFFIELD Sharks are expected to make the signing of Andrew Bridge official later today after the club swooped for the former Newcastle Eagles forward.

Chesterfield-born Bridge, aged 33, was at Sharks media day yesterday and will hold talks with the club to finalise his move back to Sheffield.

He left for Newcastle in 2002 and ended up being one of the most decorated players in British basketball with five league, play-off and BBL Trophy titles and two BBL Cup triumphs to his name.

Bridge’s imminent arrival is a major boost for coach Atiba Lyons who released forward Nashid Beard earlier this week. Fellow Americans Micah Williams and Gage Daye are expected to make a big impact when the season begins on Friday against Leicester Riders at the EIS.
