Sharks' general to return

Sheffield Sharks' summer recruitment has begun in earnest with Ryan Patton returning to the club.

The 31-year-old point guard was a hit with the Sharks last season after he moving from fellow Worthing Thunder. His partnership with Mike Cook, who is expected not to rejoin too, was one of the main reasons Atiba Lyons' team picked up the BBL Cup and finished a creditable second in the league.

Patton averaged 19 points-per-match and was among the league leaders in assists, free throw shooting and three-point accuracy. A shoulder injury prevented him playing a full part towards the end of last season, however surgery has fixed the nerve problem and he will return for training later this month.

Lyons said: "Ryan is an elite point-guard. He is the one of the best shooters in the league and can make a shot from almost anywhere on the court. He brings more than points though. He can run the floor and get everyone involved.

Patton, who also had a spell with Sheffield Arrows, said: "The city is somewhere I have always felt comfortable. I'm pleased with how my shoulder is feeling. I'm raring to go."
