Sharks ‘General’ returns home

SHEFFIELD Sharks have brought back fans’ favourite Ryan Patton to the club for the rest of the season.

Point guard Patton will replace centre Justin Dobbins, who has been released by the Sharks to make space for the American.

It is sure to be a popular move with the Sharks supporters and has also been welcomed by player-coach Atiba Lyons.

He said: “It’s exciting to have Ryan back. He’s a good team guy with great offensive skills who will get us going.

“Justin was unfortunate. This is a strategic decision which will make us play a more up tempo style that I think will give us a better chance of winning some silverware this season.”

Patton, who has been training with the Sharks for a fortnight, will be available for tomorrow night’s match with Guildford Heat at the EIS.

It is an important game for Sheffield with the Surrey club just behind them in the standings.

Lyons said: “If we win this one then we take the season series against the Heat. We need to get the winning feeling back too.”

Patton is expected to take over point guard duties, allowing fellow American Jimmy Langhurst to play at shooting guard.
