SHARKS guard Nate Reinking said he was hurting after Great Britain missed their chance of a last eight berth.

Britain suffered an awful second-half on Saturday night, outscored 70-24 over the final 19 minutes as a 15-point lead over Australia became a 106-75 defeat. “This one hurts,” said Reinking. “We had everything we wanted to get to the next round right in front of us, and we let it go.”

The team have their final chance to claim a victory tonight against China.

The Sheffield-based women’s volleyball team have set their sights on qualifying for the European Championship after their Olympic Games ended yesterday with a 3-0 loss to Japan.

Libero Maria Bertelli “We wanted to put British volleyball on the map. If we qualify through the Europeans it will be the first time a British team has done it.”
