Sharks forward Olu Babalola says he has put the pain of last season’s play-off final loss behind him.

Sharks forward Olu Babalola says he has put the pain of last season’s play-off final loss behind him.

But the 30-year-old who signed a new one-year deal with the club last week, won’t forget how Mersey Tigers dismantled Sheffield to pick up the campaign’s last piece of silverware.

He said: “I’m older now so the defeats still hurt but I deal with it better. What I’ll do is store the memory up all summer and then use it when we start playing again.

“You have to keep everything in perspective but come September I’ll be ready to bring it (the memory) out again.”

Sharks begin the new season as they did last year with BBL Trophy group matches. It is likely they may face the Tigers or Cheshire Jets with new boys Durham Wildcats probably joining Newcastle and Glasgow in a north group.

The BBL will announce the fixture list this week for the 2011/12 season. League sources say no changes have been made to the Championship set up with Durham replacing Worthing Thunder to keep a 12 team competition.
